What It Measures
PopHIVE Ingest is an open-source project that downloads, processes, and standardizes respiratory illness surveillance data from multiple CDC sources. It provides cleaned, analysis-ready datasets for COVID-19, RSV, and influenza.
How It Works
The PopHIVE pipeline automatically downloads raw data from CDC APIs and data portals, cleans and normalizes it, and produces standardized output files in formats suitable for analysis and visualization.
What It Tells You
PopHIVE provides a consistent, reliable data layer that smooths over the inconsistencies between different CDC data portals. It makes it easier to combine and compare data from multiple surveillance systems.
Limitations
- PopHIVE is a data processing project, not a primary data source. All data ultimately comes from CDC.
- Processing may lag behind raw CDC data availability.
- Not all CDC data sources are included in PopHIVE Ingest.
